As is only natural, when I return to Japan, I find myself once again having many things to take care of each day.
Even so, the women who regularly come to Mitsuishi Fudō are truly of a high level. From time to time, women who wish to ordain come to see me.
Among the Mitsuishi followers, there are currently no applicants for ordination, but many can recite sutras. Recently, we have been encouraging everyone to practice shakyo (sutra copying) together, and some are working on it very energetically. Even without becoming ordained, one can fully receive the benefits of the Buddhist path. Practicing the Buddhist way is truly a wonderful thing.
In addition to the temple, I also run the Kishu Koyasan Yokobue Association. Besides guest participants, we have members who join us from distant parts of Japan. Our activities mainly include text-based study, salon-style live gatherings, and correspondence courses. Here as well, several members have continued copying sutras and are steadily improving their level.
I myself continue my training and studies. Being able to share what I learn, and seeing people grow through it, gives me a deep sense of fulfillment. I am truly grateful that everyone continues at their own pace.
Both at the temple and in the Yokobue Association, this year we would like to write many sutras together as offerings to the deities and Buddhas. And I hope that together we can move toward the practice of the Eight-Thousand-Sheet Goma fire ritual. Newcomers who wish to learn are most welcome. The Buddhist path is not merely custom or tradition—it is a teaching that elevates and refines oneself.
