理趣経は死ぬ気で拝めとおっしゃった師があります。信者さんとおしゃべりのあと、気楽に拝みに入りましたら、思わぬ突撃があり、師のお言葉を思い出しました。

師とお呼びできる方に限らず、最近大きな存在を続けて失います。ご縁があると言う事は、後になってしみじみと理解できることも多いです。さまざまな恩に報いるには至心拝むことしかありません。あと、やっぱり伝え続ける意識と努力です。

The Technique of the Soul

There was a teacher who once told me that one should chant the Rishukyō as if one’s life depended on it. After chatting casually with a devotee, I began my recitation in a relaxed manner — when unexpectedly, something struck me deeply, and I was reminded of my teacher’s words.

Not only those whom I can call my teacher, but recently I have continued to lose great presences in my life. The meaning of having such karmic connections often becomes deeply clear only afterward. To repay the many kinds of grace I have received, there is nothing to do but pray with utmost sincerity. And above all, to keep conveying the teachings — with awareness and steady effort.
